Synopsis
97 year old World War II veteran Gordon Kobler is presented with the French Legion of Honour, the country's highest award, at the French consulate in New York City in November of 2019. Kobler served in the European theatre under general George S. Patton, and was one of the "Iron Men of Metz" who liberated the city from Nazi occupation. Kobler credits God with seeing him safely through the war.
This story won a Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters award for Excellence in Serious Feature Story. The reporter is Irene Snyder.
