Synopsis
On November 9th, 1989, the wall surrounding West Berlin was demolished as the Communist occupation of Eastern Germany came to an end. One Iranian-German artist, Kani Alavi, painted scenes depicting the reunification on remaining sections of the wall. 30 years later, Alavi journeys to the United Nations headquarters in New York City to view a section of the wall bearing his work on display in the garden.
This 4 part feature series details the history of the Berlin Wall, its anatomy, the tyranny of the East German Stasi, and Alavi's reunion with his work. It is entirely in Spanish, and was aired from December 31, 2019, to January 3rd, 2020. It was nominated for a regional Emmy for Historic/Cultural - News Single Story or Series.
